This altar claims that all bodies are divine. The church is no safe harbor for many of us, with its embrace of those assigned female at birth, on a condition of impossibility, in a perpetual state of reproductive virginity.

Women, girls and people with vulvas find themselves in a bind, unable to have a sexuality without losing honor. Unable to inhabit their bodies without danger.

This altar is for all of our mothers and their mothers, mothers, mothers, mothers, mothers.

Shown in Art Is Love Made Public exhibition at AP Gallery in Zacatecas, Mexico, 2018.
